About Nate

Sunrise: January 8, 1955 Sunset: January 15, 2021 Nate White started playing the Bass Guitar at the tender age of 16, he went on to work with the former Music Director (John Manuel) of the Motown Recording Act the “Spinners.” In 1975 Nate and John formed a Soul/Jazz Group called Saturday Night Special. After being discovered by Jazz Legend Roy Ayers in late 1976, Saturday Night Special became the Legendary Group “RAMP.”

With Roy Ayers, impressed with their unique sound, they were invited to record an album that resulted in a recording contract with ABC Records. The Roy Ayers produced LP “Come Into Knowledge” features the re-make of Roy's hit “Everybody Loves The Sunshine.” The album charted on Billboard top 100 in 1977. The group achieved moderate success and found themselves as opening act for Kool & The Gang, Roy Ayers and Grover Washington Jr. With internal issues at the record company the album never received the proper promotion which eventually led the band members to pursue other opportunities.

Nate stayed extremely busy over the years producing, writing, arranging and performing. Nate has had the good fortune to share the stage with many artists, including The Godfather of Neo-Soul Roy Ayers, Michael Henderson, the Jazz Quartet “Gratitude,” George Johnson of the “Brothers Johnson,” Reggie Calloway former leader of “Midnight Star,” Chuck Loeb, Jeff Lorber, Everette Harp, Euge Grove, Phil Perry, Aubrey Logan, Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, and the nine GRAMMY®-nominated, platinum-selling artist, Dave Koz.

In late 2016 Nate began recording songs for his third CD Project. This process is always personal. After two years of producing, writing, arranging, performing and engineering on this 12 track Jazzsterpiece called “Up Close,” this newly awaited release is now available. This CD features a blend of R&B, soul-filled Jazz, and Funk. There are so many standout cuts on this new project that we refuse to highlight one over the other.
